I’d like to update you on a couple of interesting Vitrue SMI stats from 2008. In December we took a look at a handful of major brands. We found that a few companies had some huge social media gains. Here’s what we found:
Starbucks was the biggest point gainer of them all. This was primarily from a 54% increase in Micro-Blog conversations. They also saw an 18% increase in social networks. Overall their SMI grew by 165 points in the month of December.

93% increase in Micro-Blogs
68% increase in Social Networks
13% increase in Blogs
12% increase in Video Sharing
SMI score up 63 points
Blackberry:
33% increase in Micro-Blogs
72% increase in Social Networks
44% increase in Blogs
58% increase in Video Sharing
SMI score up 64 points
Best Buy:
72% increase in Micro-Blogs
6% increase in Social Networks
376% increase in Blogs
21% increase in Video Sharing
SMI score up 55 points
Netflix:
67% increase in Micro-Blogs
110% increase in Social Networks
16% increase in Blogs
37% increase in Video Sharing
SMI score up 45 points
Victoria’s Secret:
386% increase in Micro-Blogs
127% increase in Social Networks
108% increase in Blogs
29% increase in Video Sharing
